Happy Birthday Brady...Well 5 month bday anyway!

How do they go so fast from this...

to this?!

Are you impressed? I actually got this posted on the actual day that Brady turned 5 months old! I know that I just posted his 4 month update, but he is ever changing and doing it so quickly that there is still plenty to tell!
  • Brady has started rolling over. He did it for the first time one night when I was at Meijer. Daddy got to experience a first! I was enjoying my "personal time" wandering the aisles at Meijer for an hour and a half and when I came home, James told me the big news. He can only roll from his back to his belly and does it over and over again! At first, he didn't know what to do when he got on his belly and would just cry, but he keep getting more comfortable with it!
  • He is finally eating cereal! He still doesn't care for the first couple of bites, but at about the 3rd or 4th one, he starts getting the hang of it and devours it!

  • On that note, he is also starting to sleep a little better. We have had several nights of 7-8 hrs of consecutive sleep. These are not usually consecutive nights, but I am enjoying them anyway!
  • He is also starting to get on more of a schedule. He is awake for longer periods of time during the day which leads to a lot of playing! Napping is also easier. It is really easy to tell when he is getting tired. I just lay him down in his bed, put his blanket on him and start his mobile. After he gets done singing to it...he is usually asleep within 5 minutes.

He is the easiest baby and for that we are very grateful! God has blessed us with 3 great kids. (Now the other 2 are definitely making us stronger...but still great kids!)

Here are a couple of recent pictures and maybe even a video if it uploads correctly!

I am telling you...he loves that Bebe' Pod! (special guest appearance by Papa)

Learning that there is a fun new world on his tummy!

See, just so happy! ;)

and now...crashed out! (Don't worry, I didn't leave him sleeping like that. He was quickly taken to his crib and placed on his back...Well, maybe not quickly...it was fun to look at for a while!)

PLease forgive the crazy stripes and coloring in the video. Our digital camera is literally dying on us...we don't know how much longer it has.

Brady is 4 months old!

Okay, so maybe he is closer to 5 months old, but I didn't want to wait to post this...It may have ended up as a 6 month old update instead! ;)

Brady is changing so much, so fast! He definitely enjoys life and everyone in it! He has been the easiest baby thus far...however I guess he would have to be, being the 3rd child and with his siblings being so...what is the word, active! hahahaha

He has started grabbing anything and everything in sight. If he can see it, he tries to get it. Of course it then goes straight to his mouth. Here is a photo journey of the past few weeks.

Obviously, Brady was too little to open his own gifts at Christmas. His brother and sister were a big help in that department! Brady's favorite part was the wrapping paper anyway!

Since my parents have missed all of the "firsts" with my kids, we had my mom feed Brady his first cereal. Needless to say, he didn't like it one bit!

Even though he didn't like it, Gee Gee could still get him to smile! He kept the cereal in his mouth as long as possible before swallowing. I don't know if he hoped for the taste to go away or what! hahaha He was in a state of shock and surprise and it wasn't a pleasant one. We still aren't doing well with the cereal. He just really doesn't care for it much...but I am in DESPERATE need of sleep!

Here is Brady enjoying his stocking on Christmas morning...or maybe he is enjoying something else. (you see, he sleeps when I am already awake!)

Enjoying some time with his Great Grandpa...We call him Pa!

Brady chewing on the Curious George that he got from his Uncle Jared and Aunt Cristy. It was so wet from slobber after he was finished that it was 2 different colors!

Everyone was tired after the family get together!!! Here is Brady sleeping with his Great Gramma.

Brady's cousin Jazmin was really excited about playing with him. Whenever she got quiet we could always find her near Brady!

He is SUCH a happy baby! Peyton and Gavin were always happy and loved people, but Brady is on a totally different level!!!! People are always asking me, "Is he always this happy?" and it is just one simple answer..."Always!"

Brady loves to play! As long as he can see what is going on around him, he is incredibly content!

(I know that this picture is really bad quality but our camera is on the verge of dying)

Here are the stats!

In comparison...I looked back at the baby books for Peyton and Gavin. Here are their numbers:

Peyton: at birth...8 lbs 2 oz, 20 1/4 inches

at 4mos...11 lbs 7 oz and 27 inches

Gavin: at birth...8lbs 0 oz, 20 1/2 inches

at 4mos...14 lbs 6 oz and 26 inches

Brady: at birth...8 lbs 10 oz, 20 3/4 inches

Drum Roll Please!!!!!!

Brady James weighs 15 lbs 6 oz and is 27 inches long!!!!
He is currently in size 3 diapers and wearing 6 month clothes! He just doesn't seem like such a big boy. I think it is because he is so long! He is still in the 90th% for length. I am not one that is very good at asking the percentages and my doc and nurses don't just offer that...so I am not sure where he is on percentile for weight...but we know that he is quite the big boy! Doc was pleasantly surprised because Peyton was always so tiny! ;)

Note...the kids were very close in size at birth...it just didn't last for Peyton! They were all within almost 1/2 lb and increased by 1/4 inch with each one! hahahaha

Out of the mouths of babes

Peyton does it again!

Today while eating breakfast...

Peyton: Mommy, my neck is growing. It is almost as big as your guys's.
Mommy: Oh, so I have a big neck?
Peyton: mm hmmm. and so does Daddy! When I get big I also (she loves to say also) get to put that stuff on my armpits!

I want to preface this one by saying that I just started a Biggest Loser competition that my friend Jaime is doing. There are about 30 of us in it and I don't know any of them! It is really exciting. But it leads to this story.

Peyton: Mommy, are you having another baby in your tummy?
Mommy: No, Peyton. Why do you say that? (my mistake!)
Peyton: Your belly is big again and I think there is another baby in there. We need a baby girl this time!

Peyton had the stomach flu and woke up at 2:00 a.m. throwing up so she and I spent the rest of the night on the couch with her puke bowl. She coughed and I popped my head up to see if she was okay. She told me that she just had to cough…”not a sick cough mommy…just a throat cough.” I said okay and told her that I thought she was going to puke. She thought for a minute and said, “Puke means throw up and poop means poop.” (so matter of factly! Hahaha)

Seeing Aunt Brittney for the first time after we got to Arkansas.
P: Aunt Bwittney, do you know what I am going to be in your wedding?
Britt: Yes I do
P: disregarding Brittney’s response. “I am going to be your flower girl!”
Britt, Yes you are (one of little words)

Whenever anyone looks at or comments on Brady, Gavin has to stake his claim to him. He tells them that is his “Baby Baby Brudder Brady James”.
